Project Description

The European Ageing Network (EuroAgeNet) is providing funding to facilitate exchange visits and training for research and technical staff, including early career researchers, in ageing. The funding call will provide 80% of the funds for this, while ADRI Professor Ian Goodhead has kindly agreed to fund the remaining 20%. This funding will be used to attend the European Bioinformatics Institutes (EBI) 5-day course on “Gene-environment interactions in human health and disease” from Monday 17th of March 2025 to Friday 21st of March. This event will be a powerful developmental activity as my computational work uses one type of modelling, namely mechanistic modelling, and the EBI course outlined below will develop my skillset by introducing me to other modelling techniques (GWAS, Mendelian Randomisation, predictive modelling) to analyse cohort datasets. More details on the course can be found on the EBI website here: https://www.ebi.ac.uk/training/events/gene-environment-interactions-in-human-health-and-disease-2025/#vf-tabs__section--tab1

This project aims to develop a mathematical model to explore how lipid metabolism and inflammaging contribute to bone ageing and disease. By simulating the interactions between cholesterol-related pathways, inflammation, and bone degeneration, the mo...
