Biography Dr Chedza Simon is a Lecturer in Public Relations and Digital Communications at the University of Salford, Manchester, UK. He previously served as a Lecturer in Media and Public Relations at Swansea University, where he joined the department after successfully completing his PhD in media studies, researching on organisational crisis communication in the global south and the role of social media. Chedza brings a wealth of industry experience to higher education. He is a fellow of Higher Education Academy (FHEA), a professional recognition for teaching and learning in higher education. Before pursuing his PhD studies, he worked as a Private Secretary to the Minister in the Government of the Republic of Botswana. He also has an illustrious career in media and communication spanning over 15 years. He worked for Botswana’s biggest tabloid newspaper, The Voice, as a journalist, Business Editor, Sub Editor and News Editor. He would later be headhunted to lead the news department of Botswana’s first privately owned television station, eBotswana -a subsidiary of South Africa's eNCA news channel, as Head of News and Current Affairs. He then worked for Livingstone Kolobeng College in Botswana where he doubled as a public relations officer and secondary school teacher. Chedza is a recipient of the prestigious UK government Chevening Scholarship (for Masters Degree studies) and the Commonwealth PhD Scholarship. He successfully completed a Master of Arts in Communication, Media Practice and Public Relations in 2015/16 at Swansea University
Research Interests My research interests are in crisis communication, crisis management, social media, public relations, strategic communication, media and global communication.
