Description I’ve been appointed by the University of Botswana to uphold and enhance academic excellence in media and communication studies from 2024-2026. My role involves rigorously evaluating dissertations, theses, and research essays submitted by Master’s and Doctoral candidates. Essentially, I serve as the university’s guardian, ensuring that the degrees awarded meet international standards.

Pump Priming Fund

Description I received the Pump Priming Fund in November 2024 to host a stakeholder engagement workshop for my research project on UK Police crisis communication and the use of social media during critical incidents. The project is collaborative research between myself, Dr Richard Jones (University of Salford); Professor Nuria Lorenzo-Dus (Swansea University) and Dr Richard Smith (Metropolitan Police London). The funding also supported a systematic literature review on police crisis communication research. The workshop took place on January 10, 2025, and the literature review is running concurrently, with an expected completion date of February 28, 2025.
