ITEM project : Virtually Facticious
Fuchs, M; Hott, W; Ali, U
Abstract
The project will research different concepts of 'memory' and its representation in an interactive virtual environment.
Over the course of the project the participants are engaging in research into a variety of subjects, such as artistic and commercial computer games, online communities, interactivity and communication in shared virtual spaces as well as the different software tools for the construction of virtual environments. BT's technology and IT operations business, BT Exact, is supporting the research project by offering its in-house developed TARA rendering engine for the construction of this virtual roadmap to over 60 years of participants' memories in and around Liverpool.
The project also invites project participants and partners to think about the way they visualise memory, how they share their memories and who with.
The findings of this research will inform the creation of a virtual environment representing participants' memories and a research report, ready to be presented in December 2004.
