Irwin, Dean
Authors
Abstract
As part of the 750th anniversary of the expulsions of Jews from Eleanor of Provence's dower towns (Jan. 1275) and the Statute of the Jewry (Oct. 1275), this piece explores the experience of Anglo-Jewry in the 12-15 months following Edward I's return from the Crusades. It explores the attitude of the Crown towards the Jewish community at this point, the expulsion of the Jews from Bridgnorth and Eleanor of Provence's dower towns, and the implementation of the Statute of the Jewry.
